The Munich High End 2020 can come

It is not a typo in the header, it is the time it sometimes takes to get a good project completed.

After 3 years of development, finally during the Christmas time 2021 we have been able to complete the project for the Munich High End... 2020.

It was an hard task, but it was worth it.

Stil we have to decide some small construction improvements and the collocation of the project, whether. But You can already see some new technologies implemented and recognize some established ones:

The first batch of series woofers have arrived

The first batch of new Blumenhofer woofers has been delivered yesterday. Looking forward to deliver You, the necessary tools for Your next time.

We actually had already some pre-series woofer in house that allowed us to deliver the first customers. And this delivery was expected already long ago. But... delayed due to Coronavirus.

The first BHA-16" woofer from small series production

Finally we are getting there again. After 2 years development and several iterations, the new 16" woofer entirely born on our experience and research. Air dried paper membrane. 8Ω and 16Ω for several projects. 2 versions, one for subwoofer application one for stereo application. We will soon be able to restart the production of the Genuin FS 1, which will become MK 3, because there are very big changes connected to the woofer.

We introduce the Gran Gioia MK 2

No need for big marketing slogans, no need to tell You how many prototypes of the horn we built, no need to tell You what nor why. As usual, no compromises… but we collected good ideas what could come next ;-) Today we will play the Gran Gioia MK 2 for the first time in public. At the Munich High End 2017 Room F224… there is no better moment to introduce new products.

We discontinue Gioia, Gran Gioia and Clara Luna

After several years we discontinue the Gioia, the Gran Gioia and the Clara Luna. The reasons are different but absolutely understandable. The Clara Luna: one of the components is no more available and there is no possibility to find an alternative without going in the MK 2 version. The Gran Gioia: in the last years we have made huge steps forward in the construction and in the knowledge about how to build horns and phase plugs. The Gioia: very simple, the costs related to the construction of the Gioia are just a little bit lower than the costs related to the Gran Gioia. This would put the Gioia in a very similar price category to the Gran Gioia and would force us to artificially increase the price of the Gran Gioia. We are not keen to these pricing games just to avoid internal competitions. We aim at giving the best value for money to our customers.

We introduce the Fun 13 MK 2

After a long development, and about one year from the last sale of the Fun 13, we are able to introduce the Fun 13 MK 2 the iterations in the development have been several and the main driver of the upgrade was the need for a better mid high range for the Fun 17.
Our goal was to keep the same friendly dimensions and the same friendly design of the predecessor. Not a bigger loudspeaker, but a far better sounding one.
The differences, technically speaking are 2:
- a new silk dome tweeter with 28mm diameter
- a new woofer same dimensions but with P2C membrane
The first production after the pre-series have left the company in the last weeks.

We discontinue the big Fun 17

This was the first loudspeaker we realized with a real bass horn. With bass compression chamber.
Introduced back in 2009, now it is time to discontinue it.
It is a small loudspeaker with astonishing sound qualities. I know several people, who would not even think about changing it, not even for the bigger ones: they have become addicted to the bass horn!

They appreciated the experience and it has been good for us as well to get new ideas.

Viet Challenge 211 ART

The name sounds like a new tube amplifier but it is not. In fact it is the last mosaic tile for our production. Now we have the whole wood processing in our hands.
The Viet Challenge 211 ART is a professional calibrating machine that allows us to work with higher precision in our constructions.

New Machine: Furnier Presse

One more step for our equipment. We found a pre-owned (but never used) press to put the veneer on wood. And now we have it in our facility.
It was lot of trouble to get it.

The last Fun 10 left our premises - we discontinue the Fun 10

Introduced back in Mai 2012. We are now forced to discontinue the Fun 10. Some of the components it relied upon are not more available for us.
It helped us to supply one valid product even in the lower market segments, where the competition is fiercer and does not always rely on real quality of sound and of the product.

We discontinue the Fun 13 - wait for the MK 2

We cannot procure the yellow driver anymore. We are forced to quit production of the Fun 13…
…but wait, this well built product of October 2011 will live again.

We introduce the Genuin FS 3 MK 2

It was due time, after introduction of the harmonic construction on the Genuin FS 2 and then in the Genuin FS 1 MK 2, even the Genuin FS 3 needed a major overhaul. And now there it is. Today we introduce the new Genuin FS 3 MK 2.
This loudspeakers bears several news, if compared with the one it substitutes:
- Harmonic construction
- 25cm (10") paper woofer based on own development (instead of 20cm-8")
- easy time alignment system on top of the main cabinet
- floor ported bass reflex duct (instead of front)
- own made lacquered HDF horn

It maintains lots of the properties that made the Genuin FS 3 MK 1 a best-seller:
- High efficiency
- flat impedance curve
- tube friendliness
- switchable impedance linearization for the cross over frequencies

For us a really major improvement, worth the while.
Available starting mid of October 2015. Now, the music is up to You!

We discontinue the Genuin FS 3

The Genuin FS 3 was the second product borne from Blumenhofer Acoustics, when we started to focus on the HiFi Market, was our first companion to the Genuin FS 1.
For a longer time was our best seller and for it we developed the P2F© bass woofer.
There have been 2 versions in the design of this loudspeaker. The first one, when we introduced it back in 2005 and this last one with a more modern foot and a smaller horn cabinet, an improvement made back in 2010. Electrically and soundwise the 2 design issues of the Genuin FS 3 are identical.

We discontinue the big Fun 20

Since its introduction the big Fun 20 gave us great satisfactions and very good feeling. And at the same time worried us for its dimensions and its look.
It was (and still is) a great loudspeaker, and sounds really mature with big fundament and musicality, they way we like it.
Since the introduction and the price reduction of the Genuin FS 2, its sales virtually stopped. Now it is time to stop its production as well.

We discontinue the Genuin FS 4.2

Genuin FS 4.2, a light-weight speaker in line with the Genuin serie, horn for the mid-high and bass reflex woofer.
Well, this is an year of big changes and improvement. The Genuin FS 4.2 belongs now to the past.

The hand painted big Fun 17 Loudspeaker

During the show in Veldhoven 2012 we meet René Visker, a painter from the group of the Ritsart Gallery in Maassluis, The Netherlands.
René speciality are realistic painting and we were all quite astonished about the way and the quality of his work. After this meeting we decided to cooperate with them.

We discontinue the Genuin FS 1

Introduced back in 2004, the Genuin FS 1 is our oldest product. During the years it has been modified 2 times getting a better support for the horn first and then introducing the ARIS feets from Aktyna.
I've lost count, how many we sold of them. But now, even tough it is still a very good product, the drivers are not more available, at leas not at normal prices.
This forces us to discontinue it, after a really long good service and lot of happy customers!

The Veneer Option Page is online

Finally it will be easier to perform Your choice of the surface of Your unique loudspeaker: we found a way to implement the page for the veneers You could put on a Blumenhofer loudspeaker.
This page is not intended to be exhaustive, it is just a rough idea and will grow with new pictures arriving (courtesy Burger Holzzentrum) in the next future, and, in case of very special veneers or trees with a special story, there will be some more info, like for the Briccole of this picture here.
The idea beyond this is to add examples pages of loudspeakers made with that particular veneer: You will see a "Indian Apple page" with all the loudspeakers we will build with that veneer. This is just a first important step in a customer support direction.

Finally setup and running - The new machine

This project took us more than an year of planing and study. We had to build a complete new production house, that at the same time is our store and will have one space for a very special listening room: our reference Blumenhofer Cinema. But for the Cinema will take some more months.

The important milestone is the installation and the first tests of the new machine. It is a 5-Axis CNC controlled processing centre. For some it might be small, for us is a big step. This will speed up our production process and improve the quality of our products, giving us at the same time more freedom in terms of forms and ideas and more flexibility in terms of fast response to the needs of the customers.
The machine is an italian Biesse Rover, a leading product from a leading company in CNC based processing centers: we can really talk about cutting-edge technologies :-)

Now we can focus again 100% on our core business: Loudspeakers with cutting-edge musical qualities.
